There’s something about summer that always feels a little nostalgic.
The slower evenings, the warm air, kids running barefoot, golden light right before sunset — it’s the kind of season you wish you could bottle up while you’re in it. And somehow, years later, it’s often the season families miss the most.
That’s one of the reasons I love photographing families during the summer months here in Clemson, SC. Summer family photos aren’t really about getting everyone to smile perfectly at the camera. They’re about preserving this season of life exactly as it feels right now before it changes again.
And if you’ve been putting off family photos because they feel stressful or overwhelming, I want you to know they truly don’t have to be.
Family Photos Don’t Need to Feel Stressful
One of the biggest things I hear from moms before their session is:
“I’m worried my kids won’t cooperate.”
Honestly? That’s completely normal.
The good news is that meaningful family photos don’t come from perfectly posed children or everyone sitting still. They come from connection. The cuddles, the laughter, the movement, the little in-between moments that happen naturally when your family is simply together.
My approach to family photography is designed to feel relaxed and guided from beginning to end so you don’t have to carry the pressure of making everything “perfect.”
